"Raggedy Ann Stories" written and illustrated by Johnny Gruelle, published by the P.F. Volland Company, New York & Chicago, 1918, First Edition, 25th printing [stated "Twenty-fifth Edition"], c. 1918-1919. The first book in the Raggedy Ann series. Points of early printing: no "Joliet" on the title page indicates pre-1924 publication. The books in the list on the last page appeared 1916-1918-- no books published after 1918 are listed.
Illustrated hard boards [wear, soiling, slightly broken bottom edge of the front board: see photos]; substitute leather spine, 6" x 9.1/4"; illustrated endpapers, "Peggy Phillips / The Frasero 1931" is ink written inside front cover, unpaginated, c.95 pages, fully illustrated in color, high quality color illustrations, some soiling and wear, good / very good condition.
