Item Details
Description
According to the included Smith & Wesson this 2nd Model Russian revolver was likely shipped from the factory September 16, 1874 to dealer M. W. Robinson Co. of New York City for famed Western gun dealer Schuyler, Hartley & Graham. Schuyler, Hartley & Graham purchased commercial Russian models from 32801 through 39000, each marked with an "SH" within a diamond on the butt, including this example. Configuration remains as shipped with blued finish, 7" barrel, swivel butt, and smooth walnut grips. Matching serial numbers observed on the frame and right grip panel, assembly number "581" present on cylinder and latch. Barrel bears standard 1-line "RUSSIAN MODEL" address and is fitted with a half-moon front sight and u-notch rear. Hammer and trigger guard are case hardened. Butt stamped with star indicating a factory refinish. CONDITION: Excellent as refinished by the factory. The vast majority of the factory blue is retained showing only light muzzle wear, a turn line, and scattered freckling and marks. Caser colors visible on the trigger guard, the hammer faded to patina. Grips are very good with some moderate impressions. Strong and bright bore with a few abrasions. Tight lock up and crisp mechanics. Barrel Length: 7" Caliber/Bore: .44 S&W Russian FFL Status: Antique Manufacturer: Smith & Wesson Model: No. 3 Russian 2nd Model Paperwork: Factory Letter Serial Number: 33516
