An Ovation 1617 Legend acoustic-electric guitar, serial number 310392, owned and stage-played by Steve Clark and Phil Collen during live concert performances on Def Leppard's 1988 “Hysteria” world tour. Phil Collen can also be seen playing this guitar on the track “Bringin' on the Heartbreak” from their filmed concert Live: In the round, In your face from 1988. According to Malvin Mortimer, Def Leppard's guitar tech, this Ovation was also extensively used by Steve Clark on album recordings.

The guitar is in fair cosmetic condition considering its age. The body and neck have been fairly well maintained. It does not show any major wear and tear. The electronics of the guitar need to be serviced before they are fully operational.
The guitar is housed in its original brown Ovation hard case. The side of the case has white tape marked “SC Ovation Acoustic 310392.” The inside of the case has a plush brown lining. There is a string compartment which has two photographs, one showing Steve Clark posing in a room full of his guitars and another with a close up of the guitar. There are a couple of stickers and spare strings in a clear plastic Ziploc bag.
Accompanied by a copy of a Letter of Authenticity signed by Phil Collen confirming that this Sunburst Ovation Electro-Acoustic guitar (serial number 310392) was owned by Steve Clarke and used by Phil Collen each night for the track, "Bringin' on the Heartbreak."
