**First Time At Auction**
Roman, Holy Land, Judea, Imperial Period, ca. 1st century CE. An iron arrowhead with a socketing shaft and flattened blade. The side of the case is hand labeled "Masada" suggesting that this arrowhead is from the historic site in present day Israel. While Masada was one of the more famous battles of the era, this arrowhead could have been used by the Roman military during one of the Jewish-Roman Wars, a series of revolts in the Levant region during Roman occupation. Size of arrow: 3.3" L x 0.65" W (8.4 cm x 1.7 cm); case: 7.5" L x 1.75" W (19 cm x 4.4 cm)
Provenance: private Englewood, Colorado USA collection; ex-Martin Boxer Estate, USA, collected between 1960 to 1975

Condition
Losses to blade as shown and loose fragment inside case. Surface pitting and dark patina. Tears to socketing shaft, and clear stabilizer coating added to protect surface. Comes in wood display box with cotton cushion.
