Description
Ca. 1840's Mount Lebanon, NY two-drawer blanket chest in yellow paint. The lift-top lid has carved breadboard ends that are unique to the finest Mount Lebanon group of Shaker blanket chests, the lid opens to reveal an interior fitted with a till and open storage space. Case has two graduated drawers with threaded wood pulls and cut-out base. A similar example is pictured in 'The Encyclopedia of Shaker Furniture' P. 191, Fig. 250., 37”H x 40.75”H x 18”D. Provenance: Haywood A. Benning, upstate NY.
Condition
Good overall, with expected wear and abrasions throughout, enhanced paint and waxed surface.
