Description
Made by J. & E. Stevens Company. Cromwell, Connecticut - Circa 1883. The Bismark Bank is political satire at its best. In an effort to aid German farmers, Chancellor Otto Bismark placed a significant economic embargo on pork products. This had a very adverse effect on European and American pork producers. This ingenious bank points up their consternation with Bismark and his unfair trade policies. Instead of a Trojan Horse, we find a German politician emerge from the belly of the pig.
