Description
Original antique early 19thC Aquatint engraving with original hand coloring. Plate CCI Canada Goose from Birds of America. Engraved by Robert Havell (1793-1878). Published: London, 1827-1838. Sheet size is approx. 37 3/4" x 25 1/4". Paper features the Whatman 1835 watermark. This original elephant folio print has a lower right corner restoration, several repaired edge tears that are each less than 1-3". Possibly other edge repairs. The most significant issue is a 1-2" top edge tear someone taped poorly (see pictures). Should be removed and done correctly. Top rear retains two pieces of untrimmed white mounting tape. Surface appears relatively free of foxing and other stains. Please enlarge every picture to see the fine condition of this iconic and scarce piece of early 19thC Americana.
