Description
Inuk Charlie (Canadian / First Nations, Spence Bay / Taloyoak, b. 1956). Walrus. Soapstone sculpture, n.d. Signed in syllabics on underside of base. A charming stone sculpture of a walrus depicted semi-recumbent in a playful pose. Laying down with his tail bent, the blubbery animal rests one fin on his voluminous body while raising his head and gesturing with his other fin as if to say, "come on in, the water's fine!" A fun example of Inuit art! Size: 9.5" L x 4.3" W x 5.3" H (24.1 cm x 10.9 cm x 13.5 cm)
