A Rawlings Official Major League Baseball autographed by professional MLB baseball player Thurman Munson (1947-1979), who, as team captain, helped lead the New York Yankees to three consecutive World Series appearances from 1976 to 1978, winning championships in the latter two years. Munson died in a plane crash on August 2, 1979. The Yankees honored him by immediately retiring his uniform, and dedicating a plaque to him in Monument Park. Signature to top of ball, with JAMES SPENCE AUTHENTICATION JSA authentication, number B56417 affixed to letter of authenticity. Accompanied with JSA letter of authenticity. Presented in a custom acrylic case with fitted gold tone catcher's mitt display stand. Measurements listed are for the display case. The ball measures approximately 2.75" x 2.75" x 2.75".
