TULIP AND STAR STAND LAMP fiery opalescent and dark violet-blue font, brass stem with stamped ornamentation, opaque dark violet-blue Tulip base, font embossed on bottom exterior "PATENTED MARCH4 & JUNE3 1862" and interior with a "2", brass connector, No. 1 fine-line collar. Fitted with a period set-up comprising an E. F. Jones No. 1 lip burner, thumbwheel marked "E. F. JONES. / PATENT. MAY 4.1858. / REISSUE. JAN 11. 1859.", with a Merrill's air director, marked "MERRILL'S PATENT. JUNE 14. 1859.", and a chimney. Atterbury & Co. Third quarter 19th century. 18 1/2" H to top of chimney, 10 1/2" H to top of collar, 4 7/8" SQ base.
Literature: Font as Thuro I, p. 127f. Base parallels Thuro I, p. 143g.

Condition

Very good condition, font undamaged, underside of foot with several small chips and flakes/roughness, annealing lines to font and foot, connector with a light split. Burner undamaged, chimney rims with minor flakes/roughness.
