Item Details
Description
This captivating abstract oil painting by David Hales, a prominent figure in the 20th-century New York art scene, is a mesmerizing exploration of color, form, and emotion. Hales, who hailed from Brooklyn, New York, contributed significantly to the abstract expressionist movement, and this piece is a testament to his mastery of the genre..

The artwork, rendered on masonite board, is a symphony of blues that dance and intertwine across the surface, creating a dynamic and harmonious composition. Hales's signature on the verso adds a personal touch, connecting the viewer directly to the artist's creative process. The use of oil on masonite board provides a rich and textured surface, allowing the viewer to appreciate the nuances of the brushstrokes and the depth of the colors..

The abstraction in this painting invites viewers to explore their own interpretations, as the forms suggest a range of possibilities and emotions. Hales's work often draws parallels with other prominent artists of his time, such as Jean Sanglar, Rafael Romero Masiá, and Gustaf Miller, reflecting the interconnectedness of the abstract art movement..

Situated within the broader styles of abstract modernism and minimalism, this artwork also carries echoes of brutalist aesthetics. The bold use of color and form, characteristic of the New York School, speaks to the artistic freedom and experimentation that defined this influential period in American art history..

Whether you're an avid collector of abstract expressionist works or a newcomer to the genre, David Hales's abstract oil painting is a striking and evocative piece that captures the essence of the New York School's creative energy and the boundless possibilities of abstract art.
