Description
Rare printed document 8.25 x 11 in. (sight), a Nov. 11, 1918 printed message from King George directed to the Secretary of State and President of the Air Council upon the British victory, meant to pass on to the troops. In part: ‘…In this supreme hour of victory I send greetings and heart felt congratulations to all Ranks of the Royal Air Force….Our far-flung squadrons have flown over home waters and foreign seas, in Western and Italian battle lines, the plains of Mesopotamia, the forests and swamps of East Africa, the North-West frontier of India, and the deserts of Arabia, Sinai and Darfur…For all their magnificent work, self-sacrifice and devotion to duty, I ask you on behalf of the Empire to thank them…’. With a printed signature, framed and very good. This attractive piece could stand to be re-framed as there is some damage to both mat and frame itself, but document appears unaffected. Not examined out of frame.
