Description
18th century Chinese carved root wood brush washer. Beautifully carved from one piece of root burl in the shape of a pomegranate, with calyx at one end and immature fruit with leaf and stalk at the other, the interior lacquered in deep red. Foil Piccus Collection sticker on the interior. Accompanied by a slide of the piece with a "The Mr. and Mrs. Robert P. Piccus Collection, Lot 83, 18 Sept.,1997" Christie's New York sticker. Provenance: The Mr. and Mrs. Robert P. Piccus Collection. Sold at Christie's New York September 18, 1997. Purchased by the most recent owner at Asiantiques in 2003. Literature: Robert P.
