Group of four 9th & 10th Century Celadon ware Chinese bowls. Discovered at a shipwreck site off the coast of West Java, pieces recovered date to approximately 618-907 A.D. placing the lot in the Tang Dynasty (9th Century) and the Five Dynasties period (10th Century) Lot consists of four bowls, each in good to very good condition for being nearly 1000 years old. The rim of the largest bowl has a chip, otherwise, the lot as a whole is in impressive condition. The pieces have barnacles and evidence of other sea creature growth, which not only adds to the authenticity of their shipwreck provenance, but contributes to their appeal. The bowls in the lot can be divided into two shapes, bowls and pots, and large and small. The large bowl, with the chip in the rim, measures approximately 2.25" x 6" The small bowl, which has some minor chips to the rim as well, measures approximately 1.5" x 5" The large pot measures approximately 2.5" x 5" and the small pot measures approximately 2" x 5"
