Description
Pair of angels of the 17th-18th century.
Carved and polychrome wood.
Measurements: 46 x 30 x 16 cm.
Pair of polychrome wood carvings representing two angels mancebos. They are juvenile figures of infantile and chubby anatomies, typically classic and of Italian influence. The angels cover their intimate parts with a year and are stripped of their wings, which they most probably had in origin. In spite of the similarity in the modeling of the anatomies, each angel has a different identity and posture. In the face we can also appreciate the difference and individualization of each of the figures. The pieces are worked in detail both in the front and back areas, although it is certain that both sculptures were part of a larger sculptural ensemble.
