Rene Lalique, a pressed molded crystal vase Fougeres, featuring a fern motif with a continuous design of overlapping fern leaves and frosted patina, model no. 923, designed circa 1912. It is one of the first vases designed by Rene Lalique. Bears an etched mark to the bottom: France. Rene Lalique, 1860 to 1945, was a French designer, who was best known for his glasswork. His career started in 1885 as a jewelry maker, but from 1911 he predominantly focused on glasswork. According to some sources, Rene Lalique is the best known 20th century maker of molded, opalescent glass, producing most of his best designs during the 1920s and 1930s.
