Description
Susie Nangala Watson was born in Yuendumu, a remote Aboriginal settlement 290 kms northwest of Alice Springs. She went to the local high school and has lived there most of her life. She is the daughter of the renowned artist, Judy Napangardi Watson. She has lived for long periods of time in Lajamanu and often spends time in Balgo where she also has family. Susie is married and has three children.
She has been painting with Warlukurlangu Artists Aboriginal Corporation, an Aboriginal owned and governed art centre located in Yuendumu, since 2000. She paints the stories that are directly related to her traditional country. Susie uses bold bright colours, building on traditions that stretch back at least fifty millennia, while developing a modern individualistic style to depict her traditional Jukurrpa.
