Hard boards, pale-red cloth boards, black cloth spine, black lettering on front board, gilt lettering on spine [corner wear]; 6.3/4" x 9.1/2"; endpapers are maps ["Madeline Parrish" is written on top of the front endpaper]; 613pages including General Index and Index of Works of Art by Cities; many monochrome illustration, illustrations, diagrams, plans, bibliography. A little foxing, a few pencil underlines and markings [see photos]; very good condition.

Ernest T. DeWald (1891-1968) was Museum director and eminent scholar of medieval and Renaissance art, a professor at Princeton. A prolific scholar of medieval illuminated manuscripts and early Italian painting, he wrote numerous articles and books.
