oil on canvas (lined), unsigned, 18th century or earlier, after a view published in 1663 by Olfert Dapper in HISTORISCHE BESCHRYVING DER STADT AMSTERDAM (Historical Description of the City of Amsterdam), this five-volume book included copper plate engravings by Jacob van Meurs after drawings by J. van Veenhuyzen.
Stretcher size 34 1/2 x 54 1/2 in.; Frame dimensions 41 x 60 in.

Original canvas has been cut and laid down on later canvas and stretchers; stable craquelure; surface grime; yellowing varnish; minor scattered retouch visible under a heavy varnish and UV light.
