SADAO ABE (1910-1969) was born in Tokyo, spent his childhood in Rumoi in Hokkaido, and moved to Tokyo in 1929. After the war, he returned to his hometown in 1945, and subsequently lived in Kushiro and Sapporo. He has exhibited at the Japan Print Association Exhibition and Hokkaido Exhibition, and has held many solo exhibitions. Utilizing the traditional multicolor woodblock printing technique in modern times, he is a pioneer among Hokkaido printmakers and has left many works with nature as a theme.
