Description

A pair of Chinese carved wood temple fo dog pricket candlesticks, Qing Dynasty, mid 19th century, the wood, lacquered and gilded fierce guardians seated on their haunches with lingzhi sprigs in their jaws, supporting lotus stem, leaf and flower candle stems and sconces 76.5cm high Fo dog one: left hand front paw with piece missing. Chip on right scrolled "horn". Lotus leaf sconce with chip and also been cracked (possibly reglued) 18cm long. Fo dog two: Rear left paw with piece missing. 12cm and a 5cm crack in lotus leaf sconce. Signs of restoration on leaf cracks. Crack at top of the stem.
