Marvin Lowe (American, 1927-2010) 2 Works. 1) "Voodoo of the Western World," 1972, artist's proof, signed and dated, framed. Size: 25'' x 25'', 64 x 64 cm (sight); 33'' x 33'', 84 x 84 cm (frame). 2) "Eight and One-Half Little Flowers," 1974, signed, dated, inscribed and numbered: 1/20. Framed. Size: 24.75'' x 24.75'', 63 x 63 cm (sight); 32'' x 32'', 81 x 81 cm (frame). Provenance: The Robert L. Pfannebecker Collection. Artist Biography: Marvin Lowe, printmaker, musician, and educator was born in Brooklyn, New York on May 19, 1922. Lowe studied musical composition at the Juilliard School and earned his B.A. degree in English literature from Brooklyn College in 1955. While he continued to support his family by playing in jazz clubs, he began to focus on drawing. With the encouragement of Larry Rivers, Lowe applied to the printmaking program at the University of Iowa, where he studied for four years under Mauricio Lasansky and earned his M.F.A. in 1960.
