Description
Original, framed, signed and dated large oil painting by G. S. (Gaylord Sangston) Truesdell signature LR with date 1893. The subject is a woman picking fruit from a tree on a farm wearing wooden clogs. Muted colors with bright blue sky. Painting is known as "Picking Pears." Frame measures approx 35.5" x 45.5", exposed area approx 27.75" x 37.75". Painting on canvas laid down on board. Gaylord Truesdell is a listed artist who studied in the Pennsylvania Academy and after 1885 spent time painting in France where two of his paintings received medals by the (French) Salon.
