Three Painted Iron Firetrucks, New York and Europe, late 19th century. 1. Hose reel wagon with two figures and white-painted horse, the runner board marked with patent dates 21 November 1882 (U.S. Patent No. 267,773), 23 October 1883 (No. 287,095), and 13 May 1884 (No. 298,446); the horse, 16 November 1880 (No. 234,534) and 19 July 1881 (No. 244,233), all awarded to Francis W. Carpenter (1844-1925) of Harrison, New York. 2. Horse-drawn ladder truck with two drivers, the wagon and horses marked with patent dates as above. 3. Painted tinned sheet iron wagon with hose and ladder, with eight composite figures, unmarked. (largest) lg. 27, dp. 4 1/2, ht. 8 in.
