The early 20th century folk art chest with hinged lid is carved in a pattern of raised diamonds alternating with recessed diamonds embellished with pyrography texture. Interspersed within this intricate overall pattern are six floating hearts sprigged with simple floral decoration. The end panels have hearts finished with airborne figures of cupid against a stippled ground.

The inside of the lid is elaborately decorated with airborne cupids and a wreath of roses. The lock, the hinges, and the copper-flashed iron handles all suggest a date of circa 1900 - 1920.

Measures 17.25 x 28 x 15 inches.
