Cane featuring metal cap with rounded top and eight side faces with text reading "Presented to ____________from You Brother Bob" (top) and "This Cane Made From the Ramparts Taken at Chapultepec September 13th, 184_". Engraving is extremely worn from previous use and polishing. Cane measures 35" in length. Cap exhibits wear, some small dents and splitting with varnish on wood shaft exhibiting some slight loss especially near ferrule. The Battle of Chapultepec was fought between United States forces and Mexican forces during the Mexican–American War on 13 September 1847 for the control of strategic Chapultepec Castle outside Mexico City. United States forces were victorious in taking the castle.
