Description
Guy LaBree (1941 - 2015) Florida Art Hall of Fame Artist - Inducted 2020. LaBree developed a close relationship with the Seminole tribe, painting images of Seminole daily life, as well as depictions of Seminole mythology. Two of Labree's paintings hang in the Smithsonian Institute's National Museum of American Indian. Oil on canvas, 'Seminole Backwaters' depicts a vast Everglades scene with a Seminole poling on a canoe, tall cypress trees with fine details including airplants, a variety of birds, including heron, egret, sandhill cranes and other wildlife, including an otter and turtles. Includes a hardcover copy of the book 'Guy LaBree: Barefoot Artist of the Florida Seminoles'. Signed lower left, dated '88. Measures 48x36 inch (54 x 42 inch with frame). Overall excellent condition. Will be oversized/heavy to ship, pickup or delivery preferred
