Description
Ancient Near East, Mesopotamia, Old Babylonian Period, ca. early 19th to early 16th century BCE. A hand-carved greenstone cylinder seal bearing an incised scene of 2 figures standing before a seated individual, perhaps a king or god, with a petite altar between them. A tall plant separates the standing figures, and above the altar is a downward-facing crescent, perhaps a solar or lunar symbol. Custom putty rollout included. Size: 0.37" Diameter x 0.72" H (0.9 cm x 1.8 cm)
