Description
The pair of Chinese silk bands have been joined together and then framed in a black and gold wood frame with a pale fabric mat and inner blue mat. Brown tape is holding a cardboard backing to the frame, and to keep out dust.
MEASUREMENTS
16” (40.6 cm) wide x 12 ¼” (31.1 cm) tall X ¾” (1.9 cm) thick. Weighs 2 lbs 4.0 oz (1025 g)
CONDITION
The embroideries are in good shape with no losses or stains. The only loose thread is on the wing of one bat on the lower right. Someone has moved the wire hanger from the top to the side so the tapestry now hangs horizontally. It would originally have been hung vertically and could be easily switched back. There are signs of wear to the frame which gives it a more aged antique look.
Please note that any marks you see in the photos are reflections from the glass covering the front. I was unable to eliminate all reflections.
A ready to hang silk picture with auspicious bats in the clouds with much hand work and artistry.
