Utagawa Toyokuni (1769-1825) woodblock print depicting a woman carrying salt water. Signature "Toyokuni Ga" lower right. Publishers seal, lower right. Double censor seals as used 1847-1853. Creases, minor losses. Verso with old notation in ink: "An ancient Japanese custom (A lady carrying salt water to her home) by Toyokuni. About 130 Years old". Small printed label to verso: "Made by R. W. Johnson, 1727 W. Leigh St., Richmond Va." Frame, approx. 17" x 13". Sight, approx. 13 1/2" x 9 1/2".
