Description
A very nice silver and malacca sword cane curio. The silver knob handle is 7/8" high and 1 1/4" in diameter. It has a smooth top and the base is decorated in "C" scrolls, angled lines, and beading. Just above the beading, there appears to be a tiny, worn, French hallmark. At a juncture 4 3/4" down from the handle, a 26 1/2" sword can be withdrawn from a tongue and groove brass fitting with a straight pull. The unmarked blade is fashioned in "small sword" configuration and is in very good condition. The malacca shaft ends with a 7/8" bimetal ferrule. The overall length is 35 1/4" and the condition is very good. It is probably French, ca 1880, and this fine piece is from the Pinkner Collection. Estimate: $850-$1250.
