Description: Large, hand-woven Navajo rug blanket, featuring “whirling logs” design, a term used to describe the Native American use of a now-spoiled, infamous German-associated emblem. This rug predates the creation of fascist Germany, and the Navajo (as well as many other cultures, religions, and peoples) use this symbol to represent well-being, good luck, and protection. It has truly stunning color, craftsmanship, and symmetry. And the significance of this type of piece to many Native American tribes is much greater than a simple blanket; historically these blankets have been used as currency, as a keystone in inter-tribal and extra-tribal trade, as well as to signify their symbiotic relationship with nature.
