Item Details
Description
Dimension: 2x1.5 cm / 0.79x0.59 inches
This petite bead, adorned with the visages of three men, is likely a relic from the Hellenistic Period, a time that saw the widespread dissemination of Greek culture across the Mediterranean and Near East following the conquests of Alexander the Great. The intricate facial features and the choice of material suggest it was an item of personal adornment, perhaps worn as a talisman or part of a larger decorative piece. Its preservation indicates it was likely valued by its owner, possibly hinting at a connection to higher social strata.
Provenance: Acquired in the late 1980s. Formerly part of a distinguished private collection in Rome; passed down within the family. Currently held by the estate of Mr. A.F., Verona, Italy, since 2005.
