Item Details
Description
Roman, Imperial period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. An attractive jug, free blown from translucent, light blue glass to display a cylindrical body with a dramatically turned shoulder, rising to a tubular neck that gently bulges at the middle and resolves to a wide mouth with an underfold beneath the broad, tooled and flattened rim. A thick trailed handle with 4 vertical ribs, rises from below the rim, extending outward, and then sharply downward to join with the shoulder. Size: 4" Diameter x 4.5" H (10.2 cm x 11.4 cm)

Provenance: private Alta Dena, California, USA collection, acquired in 1973
