Zhao Shuo is currently based in Shanghai. His oil paintings are solidly realistic and have a reflective attitude. Through his art he expresses a general concern now about modern China. His �Our Lives Will Become Better" is sociologically significant. Through his strong images he creates narratives that speak to the overlap of power and information. Throughout his visual narratives he embeds the controversy between painting and consciousness. His art is a clever and complex metaphor on China�s contemporary social situation and political thought, as well as the public�s perception and emotional response. China�s burgeoning tourist industry is quite unparalleled in the world. The new consumer culture advocates traveling as an important activity associated with modernity. Internal commercial tourism in China is made possible through the wealth of a growing middle class eager to exercise their new power to spend and to consume. The government�s relaxing of controls over individual mobility has also greatly encouraged travel. Zhao Shuo adopts a dramatic perspective among people in his narratives. Some figures� physical details stand out as their heads and bodies are significantly larger than those around them.
