Description
Japan, 19th century
The globular body with an angular shoulder and waisted neck, flanked by a pair of peacock handles, the body finely decorated in bright enamels with boys and peacocks amid scrolling foliage, the neck with a band of stiff leaves. The reticulated domed cover is adorned with clouds and surmounted by a finial in the shape of a peacock, spreading its wings. All supported on three curving legs emerging from mythical beast terminals and resting on a circular stepped base with cloisonne floral motifs.
Condition: Good condition with wear and expected manufacturing flaws, such as pitting. Minor nicks, small dents, and light scratches.
