Hand-painted Italian ceramic powder box by SIPLA, of Rome (1919-1923). Designed by Giulio Rufa in the Art Nouveau - Austrian Secessionist - Italian Arts and Crafts design style. Circa 1920.
Signed under the glaze in black on the bottom.
Diameter: 4.5” (11 cm)
PROVENANCE: New York City estate.
CONDITION: Several small flakes to the edge of the cover, otherwise good condition with no repairs, no hairlines, some light crazing to the glaze.
NOTES / REFERENCES: Ceramics by Sipla are rare and held in many important and museum collections of Italian / European ceramics.
