Description
European, possibly French, Gothic Revival oak coffer or trunk, 19th century, having carved tracery panels, document box to the interior, and rising on block feet, with a paper Sisser Brothers Warehouses, Inc. label to the back but otherwise apparently unmarked.
Provenance: Gift of Francis Burrall Hoffman (American 1882-1980) and his wife Virginia 'Dolly' Kimball. Mr. Hoffman is best known as being the architect of note for Vizcaya, James Deering's Miami, Florida estate.
Provenance: From the Private Collection of Tania Armour Becker, Atlanta, Georgia.
Approximate dimensions: h. 25.75", w. 32.5", d. 18".
