Description
Tibet, 19th century. Wonderfully well worn wooden handle to a ceremonial drum. In the shape of a purba with three sided “blade” each decorated with designs in relief including serpentine designs. Upper section with three carved human heads, small attachment peg at top where this was attached to a round wooden drum, sometimes fitted with human skin. Custom stand. The Handle on stand measures 19 inches tall. Provenance: Ex Prof . Gould collection, New York.
