RARE FRAGET JEWISH OIL BURNING HANUKKAH LAMP, 1890
Jewish oil-burning Hanukkah lamp from 1890, representing Judaica revivalism. It features a combination of rococo scrollwork, a diamond pattern, and Gothic niches for the columns. The center of the lamp's backplate is adorned with a pair of lions holding a Menorah. The footed base includes pitchers with wick holders. There's a watermark indicating Fraget on the bottom. Fraget was well-known for its exquisite designs and high-quality products. The company readily provided tableware to the Polish Jewish community and European mansions, including those of the Kings of Serbia, Romania, Afghanistan, and the Shah of Persia.

WIKIPEDIA: The Hanukkah menorah, also chanukiah or hanukkiah is a nine-branched candelabrum lit during the eight-day holiday of Hanukkah, as opposed to the seven-branched menorah used in the ancient Temple or as a symbol. On each night of Hanukkah a new branch is lit. The ninth holder, called the shamash ("helper" or "servant"), is for a candle used to light all other candles and/or to be used as an extra light. To be kosher the shamash must be offset on a higher or lower plane than the main eight candles or oil lamps, but there are differing opinions as to whether all the lights must be arranged in a straight line, or if the channukiah can be arranged in a curve.
