Published quickly following the Confederate President's death on December 5, 1889.

Hard boards, original maroon cloth with gold lettering on spine [wear]; 6" x 9"; "Geo E. Prince / Anderson, S.C." is ink written inside front cover, floral endpapers [creased at the hinges, signs of hinge repair, front ep has creases, old dump stain- front ep, 2 first blank pages and title page]; frontispiece steel engraved portrait of Jefferson Davis with his facsimile signature and Woodward & Company imprint, tissue guard is damaged [see photo], xviii + 490 pages, 16 illustrations, some soiling, a few page corner folds, good/ very good condition.
