Baptiste Laurent is a visual artist based in Spain since 2007. Founder of the shared artist studio, Latolier, located in the neighborhood of Usera, Madrid, Spain. He has exhibited in different artistic and cultural institutions such as Espacio Seara, Palais de Tokyo, Gazzambo Gallery, Alianza Francesa, Museo Nacional de Antropología, and Espacio FL among others. He has developed his plastic practice in a self-taught way in parallel to his studies in political science and art history. He has been an art director and manager of cultural projects in numerous cultural and artistic institutions (Palais de Tokyo, La Maison Rouge, Venice Biennale or Gallería Continua, among others). His traditional medium is painting, but he also works on sculpture and, mainly, on projects with a strong literary, social and anthropological component. In his recent publications "Bajo el mismo mar" and "Exit", he has already experienced collaborative creative work with literary authors. He is an anti-academic, eclectic painter who likes the syncretism of pictorial styles, and who vacillates between the narrative of neo-figuration, graphic painting, urban art and abstraction.
