In the Summer of 1815, the reign of Napoleon Bonaparte was finally brought to an end at the Battle of Waterloo by armies from the United Kingdom, Germany, Netherlands, others. This defeat has been noted as the end of the Napoleonic Wars and Napoleon was sent to Saint Helena to live out the rest of his life.
Though the details of this story had been published in numerous books following the battle, perhaps those published just after the battle are the most important! This 1816 first edition of Gleave and Clarks “Battle of Waterloo” is one of the earliest histories of Waterloo, written only months after the battle finished!
