Vintage Mid Century Modern, Neoclassic style wall plaque, woman with flowers, Summer Allegory, marked "Copyright Syroco, Inc. 4056A" undated 1960s.

The wall plaque is 14.1/2" x 7.1/2" [36.8cm x 19.1cm]; hard plastic, very good condition.

Syracuse Ornamental Company (Syroco), American manufacturing company, founded in 1890 by German immigrant Adolph Holstein and based in Syracuse, New York, was best known for molded wood-pulp interior decorations, gift and novelty items that resembled hand-carving.

By the 1930s the company had also developed an extensive line of gift and novelty items made of "SyrocoWood", and "Woodite" a combination of wood flour and polymer. In 1950s-1960s they experimented with hard plastic.
