A bronze plate brooch formed as a stylised fasces or ceremonial axe with bundle of rods, with notched T-shaped blade, loop to the rear, ribbed handle, hinged pin and catch to the reverse are absent . Cf. Hattatt, R., Brooches of Antiquity, Oxford, 1987, item 1143. 14.60 grams, 38mm wide. North American collection, 1990s-2000s. Property of a UK gentleman.
