Description
Lot 38: Vivienne Westwood | Grey Wool Skirt Suit
A Vivienne Westwood Red Label grey wool skirt suit with a single-breasted blazer and a mid-length pencil skirt.
An intricate Westwood skirt suit mirroring a late 1930s film-noir style silhouette with a single-breasted blazer with dramatic peak shoulders. The blazer features an inlaid vest panel (creating the Westwood sweetheart neckline) that has a double-breasted button closure at the interior. The beauty of the piece is showcased by the fabric-manipulated drape of the bodice and the wide-pointed collar. The skirt features a spiral seam that keeps the skirt fitted and then goes into an asymmetrical flounce at the hem. Both garments have a Vivienne Westwood Red Label and marked a size 42.
This item comes from the estate of Nicole Giacondina DeFrancesco, an Emmy-nominated hairstylist who worked in film and television. DeFrancesco an accredited hair stylist worked on various productions: Desperate Housewives, Parks and Recreation, Big Love, Star Trek, Twilight, The Hunger Games, and Steven Spielberg's Lincoln. DeFrancesco is credited for creating Bree Van De Kamp's (played by Marcia Cross) iconic red flip hairstyle in Desperate Housewives. A talented hair stylist whose eye for unique and eccentric fashion led her to collect avant-garde designs by Stephen Jones, Vivienne Westwood, and John Galliano. Her style carries her wit, charm, and dramatic flair. DeFrancesco passed away on January 17, 2013.
