Description
An estate collection of 17 Oceanic primitive style woven baskets produced by tribal craftspeople of Fiji and Tonga. Various styles and designs, including Fijian food basket with soft cane handles and black trim to rim, bowls, platters, and covered snake basket. Three, including snake basket, having dozens of shells collected from Oceania. Fiji basket accompanied by original MINISTRY OF COMMERCE export clearance tag, dated 1977. Largest basket measures approximately 16.5" x 13" x 8.5". Smallest basket measures approximately 2.25" x 15.5" x 8.5". Provenance: From the private collection of a world traveler and gallerist.
