Item Details
Description
Ancient Egypt, New Kingdom, 18th to 20th Dynasty, ca. 1550 to 1070 BCE. A wheel-thrown and highly burnished redware pottery vase with a circular foot, an elongated body with a rounded shoulder, and a flared mouth with a thick rim. A slight kick protrudes from the middle of the foot, causing the vessel to rest with a slight lean. Size: 3.1" Diameter x 9.3" H (7.9 cm x 23.6 cm)

Exhibited at the Drexel Museum, Philadelphia, 1895 to 1914; with the Drexel Institute Collection, Minneapolis Institute of Art, 1915 to 1958, ref. no. 16.604; at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) from 1986 to 1991; in the University of Arizona Museum of Art, October 1993 to December 1993; and in the Robert and Frances Fullerton Museum of Art (RAFFMA), California State University, San Bernardino from 1998 to 2023, reference number EL01.068.1998

Condition
Repair to rim as shown, with small chips and light adhesive residue along break lines. Abrasions, pitting, and earthen deposits in scattered areas, otherwise in great condition. Nice preservation given the size. Small kick below foot makes vessel sit with a slight lean. Old museum number handwritten beneath foot.
