Description
Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Nayarit, Chinesco type, Protoclassic Period, ca. 100 BCE to 250 CE. A hand-built and highly burnished pottery figure depicting a nude man seated with outstretched legs and hands placed atop broad knees. Russet-hued pigment covers the body and arms while vertical black-painted stripes adorn the bright orange face of the figure. Size: 3.25" L x 6.7" W x 8.25" H (8.3 cm x 17 cm x 21 cm)

Repaired with losses along break lines and behind proper right arm as shown, with visible adhesive residue along some break lines. Abrasions and earthen deposits, with fading to pigment, and softening to some finer details. Nice figural form.
