Description
An Upper Austrian Baroque Polychromed Blanket Chest, Probably the Workshop of Urban Huemer of Gunskirchen, Late 18th / Early 19th Century. The rectangular hinged top with faux veneer painted surface, having an applied molded edge enclosing a dovetailed box, raised on turned bun feet. The front decorated with three framed polychromed reserves; the center depicting Christ crucified, flanked by floral sprays to either side.
Dimensions: Height 29 1/2in; width 66in; depth 26 1/2in.

Condition
The chest is currently in the locked position. Structurally sound. Age cracks and shrinkage throughout. Warping to some boards. the front right bun foot is loose and not completely attached. General marks, wear, scuffs and surface scratches throughout.
